Sorry it's so late! In somewhat related news: Cloverfield, hmm? I wonder... There was a trailer for a new JJ Abrams project (Alias, Lost, Felicity, MI: III) that seemed to be for some sort of Japanese-style kaiju/monster movie, due out 1-18-08. Perhaps JJ is seeking to cleanse the palate of American Godzilla fans who still shudder at the 1998 debacle. Hints in the trailer, shot reality-tv style with a hand-held video camera, include the fact that the main character is moving to Japan, there are Japanese toys in the background, sushi is being served and a Japanese curtain is part of the decor. CLEARLY, some Japanaphile action going on in the set dressing. This would be a great and unique take on Godzilla, if they're brave enough to have given it another shot.
